Char Dham

Char Dham, the most popular shrine in the state of Sikkim, which has over the years allured pilgrims from India and beyond. The temple opened its doors on 8th November 2011. This temple complex is designed with intricate wall carvings. To enhance its appearance, it features a colossal statue of Lord Vishnu. The temple is located atop Solophok Hill, Namchi. A walk behind the doors of this temple is truly quite calming and therapeutic. Its positive aura encompasses you as you seek blessings from God. Guests can also take pictures inside the temple while wearing traditional attire, which is available for hire. After hours of exploring the holy temple complex, you can rest at the vegetarian restaurant. The temple’s location, against the breathtaking backdrop of snow-capped mountains, is a sight to behold and must definitely be on your itinerary!

Sai Mandir

Another stunning Hindu temple located in Namchi is the golden Sai Mandir. Located at a distance of 3 km from Char Dham Sikkim, it is one of the most revered pilgrimage sites in India. It was established circa 2010, dedicated to Sri Shirdi Sai Baba. Chief Minister Pawan Chamling was the mastermind behind the curation of this temple, which he wanted to gift to the people of Sikkim. The temple has modern architecture and is aesthetically pleasing. It is a two-storey building with a ravishing statue of Shirdi Sai Baba placed on the first floor. As the sun rays caress the statue, it glows with radiance, making it a beauty worth visiting. Sai Mandir also houses ten paintings, depicting the ten versions of Lord Vishnu. The shrine rests amid a lush green garden with 360-degree views of Mt. Kangchenjunga, allowing for superb clicks for your camera.

Samdruptse

Also known as the “wish-fulfilling hill”, Samdruptse Hill is believed to be a consecrated landmark that is visited by thousands of devotees and pilgrims from across the world. On top of the hill resides a riveting 45 m statue of the patron saint of Sikkim, Guru Padmasambhava. The statue is made of gold that glistens when the morning sun falls on it. According to popular belief, the hill is a dormant volcano that is kept pacified from erupting only by prayer. History enthusiasts can visit the repository here that protects several artefacts of Sikkim’s past and photos of Mahatma Gandhi. There are several trekking trails that lead to the hill, which adventure buffs can take advantage of. The best time to visit this tourist location in Namchi is between the months of February and May, and again between September and mid-December. These are the times when the views are clear of monsoon clouds.

Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary

Namchi, Sikkim is not only commemorated for its temples and monasteries, but also for its widespread exotic flora and the inhabitation of native fauna. Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary is a wildlife reserve located in Namchi. Known to attract animal and nature lovers, this wildlife sanctuary protects a myriad of animals. It is located at an altitude of 10,600 ft., preserving a variety of medicinal herbs and plants. Some of the most popular species that call Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary its home are leopards, civets, barking deer, Red pandas, magpies, goral, Blue necked Pita and Common Hill Partridge. Outlining the sanctuary, there are several trekking trails that adventure seekers can explore for unique viewpoints, hidden away from the public. The best time to visit the sanctuary is during spring when guests can spot migratory birds.
